Lab Grown Diamonds

What is a lab grown diamond?

A lab grown diamond is just that, a diamond. It consists of carbon atoms that have the exact same crystal structure, chemical composition, and optical and physical properties as a mined diamond.

Is there a difference between mined diamonds and lab grown diamonds?

The only difference between mined and lab grown diamonds is that a lab grown diamond is created under controlled conditions. This allows for a more transparent supply chain and radically reduces the carbon footprint.

Are lab grown diamonds more sustainable?

For every carat, a mined diamond requires 7300 litres of water and emits 160kg of CO2. This is drastically high in comparison to just 1 litre of water and 12kg of CO2 for each carat grown in a lab. (Trucost Report 2017). Creating our jewels exclusively with lab grown diamonds is a conscious choice, and all Unsaid diamonds grown at our lab, ALTR Tech in Surat, India are powered with renewable energy.

How is a diamond's quality assessed?

The 4Cs—colour, clarity, cut and carat weight—are the globally accepted standards for assessing the quality of a diamond.

Colour: refers to the natural tint inherent in white diamonds. Most white diamonds have a slight tint of yellow, and diamonds come in a variety of colours.

Cut:refers to how a diamond’s facets interact with light and is the only criteria that depends entirely on human hands. The cut enhances all of a diamond's qualities and reveals the most perfect balance between brilliance, fire, and scintillation.

Clarity: refers to the number, size, position, and colour of the inclusions visible in the stone, under a 10x magnifying glass. The more inclusions there are, the less the clarity and value of the stone, since inclusions affect the diamond’s ability to reflect light.

Carat: refers to the weight of a diamond, not the size. One carat equals 0.20 grams, which has been an international standard unit of measurement since 1907. The word "carat" comes from the seeds of the carob tree, used in antiquity to measure the weight of a diamond.

Where do Unsaid’s diamonds come from?

Our diamonds are grown at our lab in Surat, India, before they are taken to our factory in Mumbai where we have been cutting diamonds for three generations. Our local artisans bring decades of knowledge and passion to every Unsaid diamond, pushing boundaries year after year.

Are lab grown diamonds sold with a certificate?

Every round diamond weighing 0.5 carats or more, comes with a diamond certificate with H+ colour and VS+ quality. The certificate is issued by the International Gemological Institute (IGI), an independent laboratory and official organisation. This is a veritable identity card for each stone, indicating its composition in terms of the 4Cs, but also providing a body of supplementary information.

How are lab grown diamonds made?

A lab grown diamond is an amazing feat of technology. A diamond seed is placed in a sealed chamber and heated to around 800 degrees Celsius. The chamber is filled with a carbon rich gas which is ionised into plasma that breaks the molecular bonds in the gases. Finally, the pure carbon adheres to the seed and crystallises, forming a unique diamond with the exact same scintillation, flash, fire, and brilliance as earth-extracted diamonds.

Lab grown diamonds have no nitrogen in the lattice and are classified as Type IIa. Diamonds almost entirely devoid of impurities are rare, and only 5% of all mined diamonds can compare.

Why are you not selling mined diamonds?

We see lab grown diamonds as both the responsible and creative choice.

What is the quality of the diamonds used in Unsaid jewellery?

Online Orders

How can I place an online order?

To place an order, add a product to your cart by clicking the “Add to Cart” button on the selected product page. Once you have selected your item(s), complete your order by clicking on the cart icon and proceed to check-out. There you can modify or validate your cart and select the delivery method before making your payment.

Do I need to create an account to place an order?

No, you do not need an Unsaid account to shop with us. You can always proceed to checkout as a guest.

I have lost the password for my Unsaid account. How can I reset it?

Click the link “Forgot Your Password?” and enter the email address associated with your account. You will then receive an automatic email to help you reset your password.

Sending a gift?

You always have the option to customise your purchase by personalising the packaging, choosing from a range of jewel boxes and cards with commissioned artworks, where you can write a personal note. This service is complimentary on all purchases.

Is my personal information private

Yes, all data and payment information submitted through our E-store is safely secured by SSL encryption.

How will my order be packaged?

After you have validated your order, your order will be prepared with the utmost care.
To provide you with a unique experience, we pay particular attention to the packaging of your order.
Each order is prepared at our Unsaid store. It is then individually packaged in a jewel box, which resembles a beautiful book, and tied with a ribbon.
The jewel box is then inserted into a larger box that will protect it and keep it anonymous during shipping.

I placed an order but I have not received my package. What can I do?

If you placed your order via your Unsaid customer account, log in to your account then click on "my orders".
You will then be able to follow the status of your order.
If you placed your order as a guest, do not receive your package within 15 business days, please reach out to our Customer Service team at

Returns & Exchanges

What is your return & exchange policy?

An item can only be exchanged once. Customers who wish to return or exchange a product bought online, will have to notify the Unsaid Customer Service team: within 14 days from the date the product is received.

Unsaid will provide a prepaid DHL return label for customers based in the European Union and United Kingdom. For all other countries please contact a local carrier to arrange your return. If the purchase was made at an Unsaid store, you may also exchange the product at the nearest Unsaid store within the country of purchase.

Customers may exchange a product for an identical one or for any other product(s) of the same value or more. Any custom made, personalised and/or engraved items cannot be refunded or exchanged.

All returned products are submitted to a strict quality check. The jewellery must not have been worn and must be in its original box with the certificate of authenticity and receipt. Please take necessary precautions to ensure that the product is protected when returned. Any item not returned or returned incomplete, spoiled, broken, damaged, soiled or in any other condition that would reasonably suggest that it has been used or worn, will not be exchanged. If your return meets the quality check, you will receive a new product or a gift card.

What is your refund policy?

Customers who wish to return a product bought online, for a refund will have to notify the Unsaid Customer Service team: within 14 days from the date the product is received. Any custom made, personalised and/or engraved items cannot be refunded.

Is the return or exchange shipment free of charge?

We are currently only able to offer free return and exchange shipments for customers based in the European Union and the United Kingdom.

Can I return personalised jewellery?

Unfortunately any made-to-order, personalised and/or engraved products cannot be exchanged or refunded.

What if the jewel is defective?

Any defective jewel will be replaced free of charge. Kindly email our Customer Service team: with a detailed description of the issue within 14 days of receiving the jewel to notify us of any faults.

Shipping & Delivery

Which countries do you ship to?

Unsaid is currently available for worldwide delivery with the exception of China and the United States. Please note that we are unable to make deliveries to all PO boxes, hotels and campuses.

Which shipping company do you use?

We use DHL as our global courier service.

How much does shipping cost?

Unsaid offers complimentary delivery on all standard shipments sent with DHL.

Will I need to pay import duty and taxes on my purchase?

All Unsaid shipments to countries in the European Union, United Kingdom, Canada and the United States are sent with delivery duty paid (DDP). For shipments to all other countries please refer to local import tax and duties regulations.

Is my package insured and will I need to sign for it?

Yes, your shipment is fully insured and DHL will require a signature upon delivery. Please note that once your parcel has been delivered and signed for it is no longer covered by our insurance.

When will I receive my order?

Any in-stock items will be delivered within 3-5 working days. For all made-to-order and personalised pieces different delivery times apply and information will be available at the time of check-out.

Can I change my delivery address?

Once the order is confirmed you are no longer able to change the delivery address yourself. If you need to change the delivery address, please email our Customer Service team: with your order number and the updated delivery address.

I placed an order but I have not received my package. What can I do?

Please allow 3-5 working days for all standard shipments. Once your order has been sent you will receive an email with all shipping and tracking details.

Which payment methods are accepted?

Is it safe to use my credit card online?

All personal information is handled with strict confidence, and every transaction on our website is secure. An SSL encryption system is in place to protect personal data and payment information and we never save any credit card information.

We reinforce security of payments by means of a 3D Secure system for cards that are equipped with this system. For any question regarding your 3D Secure system code or process, please contact your bank directly.

When will the payment be debited from my account?

Your bank account will be debited as soon as your purchase is confirmed.

Can I select the currency I pay in?

For now, all online purchases are available in euros, pounds and dollars.

Is it possible to charge a single order to multiple cards?

No, orders must be paid in full via a single payment method.

Where does Unsaid manufacture their jewels?

All of our jewels are designed and crafted at our state-of-the-art facilities in India.Our parent company, Walking Tree, in India has over 100 years of combined experience in diamond cutting as well as designing and crafting jewels, a savoir-faire that we have brought to Europe in the form of Unsaid.

Does my Unsaid jewellery come with a certificate?

All Unsaid jewels come with a jewellery certificate which details the specifications of the jewel. To avoid counterfeits, we strongly suggest that you always purchase your jewellery from an Unsaid store or authorised retailer.

Why should I have my Unsaid jewellery serviced?

Regular maintenance is the best way to ensure the longevity of your precious jewels.

In everyday use, your jewellery might be subject to stress such as bumps, scratches, UV radiation, dust, sweat, and fluctuations in temperature. For this reason, we recommend that you have your jewellery cleaned and serviced every three years by bringing it to one of our stores or to an authorised distributor of your choice.

How do I take care of my jewellery at home?

Jewellery is delicate and needs to be handled with care to keep its beauty and brilliance. Take care to protect your jewellery from being scratched against hard surfaces and any sudden movements that could cause damage to the stone or setting. Store your jewels in its Unsaid box to avoid jewellery scratching against each other and getting tangled.

We recommend removing all jewellery when doing household chores as repeated contact with detergents and bleach can damage the metal, when doing sports and before getting in contact with water.

To clean a stone or a diamond pavé, we recommend using a mild non-abrasive cleaner and a soft toothbrush under hot water to gently remove dirt without damaging the jewellery.

How can I deposit my jewellery to Unsaid’s care service?

Unsaid offers its customers a range of repair services for any products purchased in our stores, via Authorised Distributors and on

They will be systematically repaired in our workshops by our artisans.

Can I send a personal message along with my order?

Yes! In fact, we encourage it. Before validating your order, you will be able to write a personalized message that will be printed and included with your order.
The message will be printed on a card featuring carefully chosen artwork and poetry and inserted into an Unsaid envelope.

Will my order be sent in a gift-wrapped package?

To provide you with a unique experience, we pay particular attention to the preparation of your order.
Each order is prepared in the Unsaid store, and individually packaged in a jewel box which resembles a beautiful book. You can choose from a range of commissioned artwork to make this box truly personal.
The jewel box is then inserted into a larger box that will protect it and keep it anonymous during shipping.

Will the price of the order appear?

Once a purchase is made, you will receive an order confirmation email that is your proof of payment. Price will be visible on the order confirmation email.
The invoice will then be sent to you by email once the jewel has been shipped.
Invoices are not included in the packaging.

Can the recipient exchange the gift?

Can I purchase a gift card?

Yes! Give someone the gift of expression.
Our gift cards are available for purchase within our Explore Menu.
The minimum value of a gift card is 50€ and can be spent for online purchase or within our retail shops. It is valid for one year from the date of purchase.
A gift card may be supplemented by another gift card or any other accepted means of payment at the point of sale.
It is not exchangeable or refundable, even partially, in the event of loss, theft or expiration.
