The 4C Guide
All diamonds are graded by a universal standard, the 4Cs, established in the early 1940s. This criterion gives diamonds a deeper intrigue and value and is key to truly appreciating these precious stones.
Dependant on the number, size, position, and colour of inclusions (internal blemishes) visible under a 10x magnifying glass– Unsaid stands for quality; our lab-grown diamonds are VS2 and above due to the precise nature of our labs.
Carat is often mistaken for a diamond’s size, but “carat” originates from the seeds of the native Mediterranean carob tree, used in antiquity to measure a diamond’s weight. One carat equals 0.20 grams.
Diamonds come in various hues, from colourless to pinks, blues, and brown, measured on a colour scale of D-Z. Unsaid diamonds fall among the colourless F-G-H range, the colour tolerance for high jewellery.
The cut reflects how the diamond’s facets interact with light and enhances its qualities to show its brilliance, fire, and scintillation— the only element entirely dependent on human hands to deliver a return of light only possible in diamonds.
