Traditionally, these rare gems are formed deep within the Earth's mantle and take billions of years under immense heat and pressure to rise to the surface. Today, Unsaid Paris recreates this natural process in a controlled environment, growing diamonds in just 600 hours while ensuring unparalleled purity and sustainability. Our lab-grown diamonds possess the same chemical composition, structure, and optical properties as mined diamonds, yet they come without traditional extraction’s environmental or ethical costs. A mined diamond requires an astonishing 7,300 liters of water and generates 160 kg of CO₂ per carat, contributing to land degradation and carbon emissions. By contrast, every carat of Unsaid’s lab-grown diamonds, cultivated with renewable energy, consumes only 0.3 liters of water and emits 12 kg of CO₂—a revolutionary step toward sustainable luxury (Trucost Report 2017).
PURE AND PRIZED: THE SCIENCE OF LAB-GROWN DIAMONDS
The primary distinction between lab-grown diamonds and mined diamonds is their origin. While mined diamonds form under the Earth’s surface over millennia, Unsaid’s diamonds are grown using a precise scientific process that mirrors nature’s formation. The result is type IIa diamonds, the purest and most sought-after diamond classification, free from nitrogen or chemical impurities. Only 5% of the world’s mined diamonds meet this exceptional standard.
THE GROWTH PROCESS: CUTTING-EDGE TECHNOLOGY MEETS NATURE’S BLUEPRINT
Our diamonds are created using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (CVD), which begins with a microscopic diamond seed placed inside a sealed chamber. This chamber is then heated to 800°C, creating conditions similar to the Earth’s mantle. A mixture of hydrogen, methane, and carbon-rich gases is introduced. Unsaid extracts from natural animal gas and ionize into plasma, breaking down the gases so pure carbon atoms can bond to the seed, gradually forming a rough diamond crystal. Over weeks, the crystal grows layer by layer, achieving exceptional purity and brilliance. Once fully formed, the diamonds undergo precise cutting and polishing by master artisans to enhance their fire, scintillation, and light dispersion. Every Unsaid diamond is assessed using the same industry standards that evaluate mined diamonds, ensuring exquisite quality and unmatched beauty.
